Pep Guardiola gives Phil Foden and Nathan Ake injury updates after Man City lose

Manchester City suffered two more injury scares as they ended their Champions League group stage with a 2-1 defeat at RB Leipzig.

The Blues lost Kyle Walker to a let red card which means he will miss the first leg of the last 16 tie in February - and possibly the second leg too, depending on how the offence is viewed by Uefa's disciplinary body.

But they also saw Phil Foden taken off at half-time and Nathan Ake leave the field late in the game with a back injury.

Having left Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo at home in Manchester for some much-needed rest, Guardiola also put Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte - his apparent first-choice centre backs - on the bench.

Ake's blow is not a big deal, as he is clearly fourth choice, but Blues fans will be disappointed that Foden, who has only just returned after suffering an injury with England that was aggravated by a kick on the ankle against Everton, is now a doubt for Saturday's home clash with Wolves.

Foden was replaced by Raheem Sterling at half-time, and Guardiola said that the removal was a safety-first approach rather than anything serious.

"Nathan has a problem with his back - we will see tomorrow," said Guardiola.

"Phil had problems in the beginning of the game with his ankle. He struggled a little bit so he was taken off as a precaution and we put Raheem in his position."
