Pep Guardiola gives Man City transfer window update

Pep Guardiola does not know if Manchester City will sign any more players in the transfer window.

The club have already brought in Rodri and Angelino this summer and it is understood a centre back is also on the agenda after the departure of Vincent Kompany. Harry Maguire is one of the club's top options for that position.

But, the Blues boss could not confirm if there would be incomings or outgoings before the transfer window closes on August 8.

"We are so happy with the squad we have," Guardiola said ahead of facing Wolves in the Premier League Asia Trophy. "I don’t know if the players here will stay or new players will come. But every time since I came here I am delighted with the players we have."

MEN Sport understands a centre-back is one of the positions the club are hoping to strengthen this summer but the Blues manager is happy with the players he has in his squad.

"Maybe, but we have three incredible central defenders and Fernandinho can play in that position. We will see."

City face Wolves in Shanghai in their second pre-season game of their summer tour and while plenty of youngsters were given their chance in the 4-1 win against West Ham it's unlikely they're going to be part of the first team squad next season.

"Well, first i would say we are delighted to bring young players to play with the first team," Guardiola said. "When we arrive at the start of the season, Argentina and Brazil are playing competitions from last season, so they can't be here.

"They need time to rest. But we jneed to play games after a week, with humidity, jet lag, 22 hour flight. They give another alternative for us. It’s a friendly but it’s an official game against teams like west ham, wolves...that’s why they are here."
