Pep Guardiola gives Man City injury update for Premier League game vs Burnley

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that there are no fresh injury worries for Manchester City this weekend against Burnley.

Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy and Aleks Zinchenko returned to the Manchester City squad in midweek against Olympiacos, with all three featuring for some part of the Champions League fixture.

The only potential absentee is Nathan Ake, who joined the club in summer in a £40m move and has been sidelined with a strain picked up on international duty with Holland earlier this month. He has resumed full training with the squad after a light session on Thursday and is expected back soon, although Saturday's game could come too soon for him.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Premier League game, Guardiola is happy to say the injury news is much better.

"It's much better to have everyone because in this amount of games the rotation and everyone being involved will be so important," he said.

Aymeric Laporte partnered Ruben Dias for the defeat to Spurs last week before John Stones stepped in for Laporte against Olympiacos as the manager took the opportunity to spread some minutes through the squad. Stones earned praise for his display after slotting in comfortably next to former Benfica man Dias.

City have been generally improved in defence this season following their summer signings and the return from serious injury of Laporte, but the goals they have conceded have been more costly due to the uncharacteristic failure to score at the other end. Guardiola's side have failed to score more than once in any of their past six league fixtures, the worst run since a 14-match streak spanning two seasons in 2006.
