Pep Guardiola gives Man City injury update ahead of Manchester United clash

Pep Guardiola has nearly a full squad to choose from for the Manchester United clash as Manchester City's injury problems ease.

Aymeric Laporte is the latest to give good news to the manager with the Frenchman able to participate in training with the squad as he continues his recovery from a problem that has kept him out since August.

Laporte will not be available for the Carabao Cup clash but Nicolas Otamendi will, having missed the last few games with a muscle issue. That leaves Leroy Sane and Laporte as the only two absentees for the United game.

The only concern for Guardiola - who was tight-lipped over whether Claudio Bravo or Ederson would start in goal - was whether the players that he has called on during the congested fixture list would need resting but the injury situation is a lot better than it has been for the majority of the season.

"I have an idea but still I didn’t think about the cup," said the City manager. "Especially with the incredible amount of games some players have in the legs, they should be rested for the previous games. I have an idea of the way I want to play but I am not 100 percent sure of the guys who play tomorrow..

"It's good to have Laporte back. Everyone except for Leroy is in the training session because Nico is back so we have almost a full squad for this period."
