Pep Guardiola gives Man City injury update ahead of Brentford game

Manchester City will again be without Cole Palmer and Gabriel Jesus when they take on Brentford but have no fresh injury worries.

Palmer and Jesus sat out of the FA Cup win over Fulham at the weekend and neither has recovered in time to be available for the Premier League game on Wednesday.

City starlet Palmer last played at Swindon in the beginning of January where he produced a man-of-the-match performance with a goal and assist, but has been sidelined since and remains out.

Jesus headed to Brazil to help their World Cup qualifying campaign last month while most of his club teammates enjoyed some downtime, and has returned from those matches with some niggles that have now ruled him out of two City matches.

While the news is not what club or player would want, Pep Guardiola is happy that the injury is not a serious one.

"Soon he he will be ready," the manager said. "I spoke with him this morning and he feels good but he's still not perfect he has some muscular niggles and we need to be careful, be alert."

No City players picked up any issues in the Fulham game either, meaning Guardiola will still have plenty of options for the Brentford game. Liam Delap, who turned 19 on Tuesday, made his first appearance of the season for the first team after seeing the first half of his campaign ruined by injury.
