Pep Guardiola gives Liverpool FC verdict ahead of massive Premier League clash with Man City

Man City manager Pep Guardiola has praised the 'talent' of Liverpool after the Premier League leaders once again came from behind to win on Saturday.

While City had their own late dramatics as they turned around a deficit to defeat Southampton, Liverpool left it even later to claim a victory against Aston Villa.

Trezeguet had given a Villa a first-half lead and they defended it well until the 87th minute when Andrew Robertson ran onto a Sadio Mane cross and buried the header.

Mane would then go on to score the winner deep into added time as his flicked header from a corner nestled in at the far post.

It was the fifth time this season that Liverpool have scored in the final twenty minutes to earn points from a game, with two of those coming in injury time and another in the final five minutes.

They did the same thing on several occasions last season as well and it has earned them heaps of praise from Guardiola.

"When we won, Liverpool weren't winning. What happened not once twice it happened a lot of times is because of the talent," Guardiola said after the 2-1 victory against Southampton.

"When they won many games in the last minutes it's because they have special character. It's good.

"The first season the 100 points we won four or five games in the last minute and last season we won most of the time more comfortably.

"It's the first year in Norwich for example we had a lot of chances in the second half we could not convert. Today we could convert the chances and that was good."

City and Liverpool will meet next week in a massive game that could already decide the Premier League title race, with Liverpool having the opportunity to move nine points clear of the Blues.
