Pep Guardiola gives injury update on three players after Man City beat Arsenal

Aymeric Laporte should be back playing again within a fortnight but Manchester City will be without Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus for longer.

Laporte and Mendy have joined Jesus on the treatment table after picking up muscle injuries during the international break. Pep Guardiola said after the Arsenal win that he is hoping to have the French defender available in a week to 10 days, meaning he will miss at least the Porto game and potentially matches against West Ham and Marseille.

Mendy has been ruled out for three to four weeks, placing further strain on the left-back position with Aleks Zinchenko also currently sidelined. Nathan Ake played on the left of a back three for the Blues as they beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Etihad.

It will also be some time before Jesus is back. The manager said on Sky that he will be out for "some months" yet and elaborated on the issue in his press conference.

"Mendy will be three to four weeks, Laporte we expect sooner. I don't know how much but maybe in one week or 10 days he could be ready," he said.

"Gabriel has a quad injury in front of his leg and I think we will have to be calm and cautious. He is still not on the field training. We struggled a lot in the beginning, for the lack of preparation and amount of absences but even with that we are still alive.

"We are not able to play 90 minutes in a high consistency but I have very good news in terms of Bernardo [Silva] coming back, Phil [Foden] playing good, Riyad [Mahrez] was outstanding today, Rodri maintained an incredible level from the beginning so we are satisfied so far with the situation we have.

"We cannot be as perfect or solid as we wanted but victories against teams like Arsenal help us to achieve our best performance.
