Kevin De Bruyne turned Manchester City 's FA Cup misery into an even gloomier night by limping off with an ankle injury in the second half.
The Blues were knocked out at the semi-final stage, losing 1-0 to Chelsea at Wembley, to bring to an end their dreams of a unique Quadruple of trophies.
But with three wins still needed to clinch the Premier League title, a Carabao Cup final date against Spurs next Sunday, and then the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at Paris Saint-Germain just three days later, the injury to De Bruyne is a serious concern.
The midfielder seemed to jar the ankle in an innocent challenge with a Chelsea player on halfway, and Phil Foden was instantly told to strip, with Pep Guardiola unwilling to take chances.
The player will be fully assessed tomorrow back at the City Football Academy, but Guardiola was anxious about the initial prognosis.
"I don't know - he has pain," said the City boss. "Tomorrow we're going to make a test with the doctors but it doesn't look good. We will see tomorrow."
The good news for City is that De Bruyne has already missed a chunk of the season with a hamstring issue - and it failed to derail the Blues.
He was out for eight games in January and February - and the Blues won all eight as Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden all stepped into the breach.
