Pep Guardiola believes there is "a lot" of room for improvement in this Manchester City team despite them sitting clear at the top of the Premier League table.
A comfortable 2-0 win over Burnley thanks to first-half goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus leaves the Blues three points ahead of nearest rivals United with a game in hand and continued their superb winning streak that now sits at nine in the league and 13 in all competitions.
With Liverpool having improved in recent weeks and United recovering from a difficult week by spanking Southampton 9-0, City's victory was a reminder that the current league leaders will take some dislodging if they are to be beaten this season.
Guardiola spoke with his players afterwards at Turf Moor about the basic things that he felt could have been done better, but cannot knock the streak that they are on as they prepare for Anfield on Sunday.
"We lost simple balls and I’m concerned and talked with them about the effort and doing simple things well," he said.
"We are trying to do it but today more than usual we lost simple balls. But we continue to be solid and create chances, we know it is always difficult here and we did really well.
"We can do better but in general I’d say the players have done fantastic."
