The warning Pep Guardiola has sent to Chelsea, Liverpool & Spurs after Man City's treble success

It has been quite the season for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola's men completing a domestic treble after winning 6-0 against Watford in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

City have made history by becoming the first side in the men's game in English football to complete a domestic treble, adding the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup and Premier League successes so far this season, making history in the process by becoming the first side to achieve the domestic treble.

It continues their recent dominance of the English game, with City successfully defending the Carabao Cup and Premier League this season, while they have amassed 198 points over the past two seasons in the top flight.

How much Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Watford and West Ham earned from the FA Cup this season

However, City boss Pep Guardiola has sent a warning to his side's rivals in the Premier League, after seeing City brush aside Watford at Wembley.

Asked how City could improve on winning all three major trophies in English football, along with the Community Shield, he replied: "Always you can improve."

Premier League transfer rumours: De Gea bid, two Liverpool exits, Wolves chase West Ham target

It is a message that does not make for good reading for the rest of the top six sides in the Premier League, including the London trio of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, who each finished at least 26 points behind the champions in the top flight this season.

Liverpool ran City close in the Premier League, losing out by just one point in one of the closest title races in recent history in the Premier League, but Chelsea finished a distant third with 72 points - 26 points behind City - with Spurs one point further back in fourth and Arsenal finishing in fifth place with 70 points.

Premier League rule changes to affect Arsenal, Chelsea, Palace, Spurs and West Ham next season

Meanwhile, BBC pundit Alan Shearer described Manchester City as the best side to play in the Premier League, highlighting their ability, hunger and desire as the key reasons behind their success this season.

With all three major domestic trophies in their grasp this season, it cannot be argued that they are currently the top dogs in the men's game in English football.
