Pep Guardiola drops coaching staff hint as Mikel Arteta swaps Man City for Arsenal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted that there will be no more changes to his backroom staff, after Mikel Arteta's decision to join Arsenal.

The former Gunners captain has left his role as Manchester City assistant to become the new head coach at Arsenal, becoming the permanent successor to Unai Emery in north London.

His appointment was confirmed by Arsenal this afternoon, although his backroom staff is yet to be confirmed, with no mention from the Gunners over the future of Freddie Ljungberg, who has taken charge of the team on an interim basis in recent weeks since Emery's departute.

There has been speculation over who will join Arteta in north London, with The Mirror claiming that he will turn to another assistant at the Etihad Stadium, Rodolfo Borrell, who has a reputation for nurturing some of the biggest names in football while at Barcelona.

The 48-year-old has also worked at Liverpool as Technical Director and Head of Coaching, before joining City in 2016 alongside Arteta.

In addition, the Daily Mail report that Arsenal are also targeting Manchester City's Sam Fagbeni, who is Head of Youth Scouting Strategy in the south.

But Guardiola has suggested that he is not expecting further changes to his own coaching team at Manchester City, after seeing Arteta depart.

"We will stay with the same people here," he said, speaking at his pre-match press conference .

"Now we don’t add we can go with the people we have here."

Other men to have been linked as potential arrivals as part of Arsenal's coaching set up to work alongside Arteta include former Manchester United and Everton coach Steve Round, and former Manchester City coach Domenec Torrent.
