Pep Guardiola dismisses fear Man City could get carried away with big Premier League lead

Pep Guardiola said he has no fears that his Manchester City players won't keep their feet on the round after stretching their Premier League lead to 13 points.

The Blues beat second-placed Chelsea 1-0 through a Kevin De Bruyne wonder goal to go clear of Thomas Tuchel's side, and 14 points ahead of Liverpool, who have two games in hand.

But Guardiola dismissed the notion that the title race is already won,and said his players know it.

"They will do it, I am good on that," he said, when asked whether there might be a problem in keeping his squad grounded.

"I know them, we are together for six seasons and most of them I know them incredibly well and how they celebrate the good moments and suffer the bad ones so they are going to listen hat it it is not true when the people say it is over.

"In January it is impossible it is over. But in January (we have) 12 wins, 36 points from 36, hats off. We know which team we beat and which we played.

"We created enough chances - 180 minutes against the European champions we conceded one shot on target from Lukaku. We were in Stamford Bridge last week when they played Liverpool and I know what they are able to do.

"When you get three points and they cannot of course. In January no one is champion because we can think about Chelsea but Liverpool has one game in hand, if he wins it will be eight points and eight points in January is nothing.,

"I want to win the game if we deserve to win and we deserved it. I like football to be fair and I was happy to win against Arsenal but we didn’t deserve but win when deserving feels better.

"They are an outstanding. Phil (Foden) and Jack (Grealish) and Kevin were brilliant in the final third, to create chances. That is why I am so satisfied.

"I think we lost on the individual performance in one situation today. In terms of attitude, commitment defensive wise I am happy, we did not allow too many big chances.

"We kept them to a minimum of big chances. We were aware active and compact in defending. In the first half, we had big counter-attacking chances we wasted.

"Second half reaction after the goal was very good. We had half chances to equalise.

"For the same performance, we won games against them, for the same we drew. The individual quality of Kevin made the difference today. We struggled to show the quality to really hurt them and score the first goal and bring some doubts into their game. "
