Pep Guardiola confirms Phil Foden injury scare for Man City vs Arsenal

Phil Foden is a doubt for Manchester City's FA Cup tie with Arsenal due to an injury picked up in last week's Premier League derby with Manchester United.

Foden was an unused substitute in City's win over Tottenham in the week and wasn't in the squad to face Wolves on Sunday, with 'fitness' reasons given for his absence.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola expanded on Foden's omission from the matchday squad, saying a knock picked up at Old Trafford re-appeared this week and he may be doubtful to face Arsenal on Friday.

"It was an action in Old Trafford, jam with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka," Guardiola said.

"When he falls down he has a problem in his feet. He's struggling so far. Painful, two or three days rest, gets better, then down. We decide with the doctors to stay to recover well.

"We will see if he arrives to Arsenal, if he's not fit we wait until the next game at Spurs. Otherwise, he doesn't train well, he's a bit uncomfortable. That's why we decide with the doctors to have two or three days off and see if he gets better."
