Pep Guardiola confirms Man City injury latest before Crystal Palace clash

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City pair Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov are “better” ahead of the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

Man City host Palace on Wednesday night hoping to keep up the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the table.

After dropping points in a thrilling 3-3 draw away at Everton last week, City are no longer in control of their own destiny with regard to this season’s Premier League title race.

In fact, failure to beat Palace will hand the Gunners the chance to clinch the title at home to Burnley on Monday.

Guardiola, though, could be able to call upon Rodri and Khusanov for the showdown at the Etihad Stadium after delivering a positive update on the pair in the pre-match press conference.

“Better,” the Spaniard said of Rodri, who has not featured since the 2-1 win over Arsenal on April 19 after sustaining a groin injury.

“We will see in training this afternoon.

“[Khusanov] Better as well. Had a tough knock against Beto at Everton, but he is better.”

It remains to be seen if either player features against Palace but Guardiola has confirmed he doesn’t have any concerns over Rodri or Khusanov ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea.

He added: “No concerns we arrive good in terms of the squad.”

With City facing Palace, Chelsea and Bournemouth in the space of six days, Guardiola says he will consider rotating his squad amid reports of Erling Haaland being rested on Wednesday night.

“It’s not a problem for that game [Palace], we arrived with four days and a half [rest] but, of course, after three days we travel to London and after we come back to play Bournemouth.

“I will have to think about it, yes.”
