Pep Guardiola confirms major injury boost for Manchester City ahead of Chelsea clash

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the club have received a major injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Goalkeeper Ederson was substituted at half time in the Champions League draw with Atalanta at the start of the month with a thigh injury. The problem kept him sidelined for the crucial Premier League encounter with Liverpool before the international break, meaning that deputy Claudio Bravo stepped into the role.

Bravo came under criticism for two of the three goals conceded at Anfield.

Now, in what is welcome news to Manchester City, Guardiola has confirmed that Ederson has trained without pain and will be fit to start in between the posts against Frank Lampard's men.

"Ederson is back, he said in his pre-match press conference (via Manchester Evening News). "He trained in the last few days without pain."

Although there was less positive news about two other players, who have recently been on the sidelines.

"Laporte and Sane are still injured for two or three months," Guardola added.

Oliver Harbord's Chelsea team of the decade

Chelsea travel to the Etihad Stadium looking to make it seven Premier League wins in a row and increase the gap between them and the reigning Champions, who are currently in fourth place, to four points.

Shoud Lampard's team wish to take all three points they will have to find a way past a fully fit Ederson.
