Pep Guardiola confirms late Sergio Aguero decision ahead of Everton visit

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City will make a late decision on how much time Sergio Aguero will play against Everton on Sunday.

The Blues travel to the Etihad stadium to face the champions this weekend for their final match of the 2020/21 campaign, with a slim hope that Carlo Ancelotti's side can still secure European qualification.

The hosts, meanwhile, have already secured the Premier League title and will be looking ahead to a Champions League final against Chelsea six days afterward.

Sunday's match will be special for Aguero, however, as it will be his last at the Etihad in Man City colours - after confirming he would leave the club at the end of this term.

And Guardiola confirmed that the striker has taken part in a partial training session ahead of the match, and a decision will be made on Saturday regarding how many minutes he will play.

The City boss remarked: "Everyone is fit, Sergio trained yesterday and today a little bit. Joao cannot play because he was sent off for three games for this action, really nice. The rest is fit.

"Tomorrow we'll decide. As much he [Aguero] can play he will play. He's been injured. He had a partial training session, and tomorrow we'll decide."

Some have suggested that Guardiola could be left with a general selection dilemma when picking his side, with the Champions League final so close to the clash with Everton.

However, the City boss suggested that he will have confidence in the 11 he does choose to win their match against the Blues on Sunday afternoon.

Guardiola added: "We put the players to win the game. We have six days until the final, if there is one player injured, unlucky, always can be injured today, tomorrow, the moment you put on the boots.

"Always is difficult. Every single day is a headache for me to choose when everyone is fit and training good. Now is not the time to be, I have to be straight in my decisions and they will understand. It's important for all of us and everybody will be committed."

Carlo Ancelotti earlier confirmed that both James Rodriguez and Seamus Coleman will be absent for Everton.
