Pep Guardiola claims Man City have had to deal with more pressure than Liverpool FC

Pep Guardiola says the pressure is all on Manchester City in the battle with Liverpool for the Premier League title.

The defending champions racked up their 13th consecutive win Pep Guardiola explains plans for Vincent Kompany future at Man City, while Liverpool have taken maximum points in all eight games since their draw with Everton on March 3.

While the scheduling has often seen Jurgen Klopp's men play first to mean that both teams have tended to kick off in second place in the table, Guardiola believes that it is City that have been under more pressure since retaking top spot at the beginning of March.

A faultless run since the beginning of February has seen them stack up another long winning streak despite having to play six of the top ten sides in the league.

The goals may have dried up in recent matches - just five have come in the last four victories - but Guardiola praised the character of his team for getting themselves over the line week after week.

"It was an incredible performance - incredible. I'm so sorry but it was so good," he said.

"We won 1-0 in Burnley but we didn’t concede one corner, one shot on target. We controlled the games. We were much better than the opponents. When we play a game, we try to be better than the opponents. We were better than them for the last two or three months. Sometimes you need a goal like from Vinnie today. Sometimes you hit the post, sometimes you get a penalty not given again -  two times in a row no penalty given so 2-0 for the opponents.

"It was outstanding the way we played in the second half especially with the character, the personality. Knowing how difficult it is, we handled the emotions knowing that if you don't win you will not be champions.

"Liverpool right now play without pressure because they know it is not in their hands. It is easy to play in these kind of games. We have the pressure because we can lose because it is in our hands but we deserve to be in that position.

"We have one more game left and we will try."
