Pep Guardiola blasts simple mistake that cost Man City vs Crystal Palace

Pep Guardiola was left ruing the basic error that saw Manchester City drop points against Crystal Palace.

The manager was happy enough with the performance and looked set for an important there points after Sergio Aguero scored two goals to turn the game around against the South London side with just minutes remaining.

However, a late twist stung the Premier League champions as Wilfried Zaha ran in on goal and his shot was turned into his own net by Fernandinho.

For Guardiola, who has spoken of the danger of Zaha several times, it just wasn't good enough as his team should have been seeing the game out.

"Last season when they beat us here was the same. They had few shots on target but scored and this was the same," he said.

"Maybe at Selhurst Park they have to try to impose themselves a bit more but it's always quite similar. In general all games we play against them we control it but the second goal is a mistake we have done and we have to avoid it.

"At 2-1 it's just not allowed that [Wilfried] Zaha runs. It's simple but we allowed them and after we conceded the goal.

"It was a decision. The concentration is always there, it was a wrong decision. We're going to solve it and improve it. In that position we have to have the back four there and not let them run. It's simple. In this situation we cannot let them run."
