Pep Guardiola asked whether he will watch Liverpool FC vs Chelsea after Man City win

Pep Guardiola said he hopes Chelsea beat Liverpool this afternoon, but hinted he may watch the Masters golf instead after Manchester City temporarily moved top of the Premier League.

City beat Crystal Palace 3-1 on Sunday afternoon thanks a Raheem Sterling brace and a 90th minute Gabriel Jesus goal, after Luka Milivojevic had threatened a nervy finish with an 80th minute goal.

The win saw City move a point above Liverpool in the table ahead of the Reds' clash with Chelsea, which kicked off immediately after. If Liverpool win, they will resume their two-point lead in the league having played a game more.

Adding to the intrigue, is the well-publicised quirk that today's fixtures were the same combination that saw Liverpool slip up in the 2014 title race to hand City the Premier League trophy that season, and Guardiola was asked after City's win at Selhurst Park how he would be following Liverpool's game.

However, the City boss said he would prefer to follow the Masters golf on City's journey back to Manchester, rather than follow the progress of their title rivals - on an afternoon that could see the momentum of the title race shift in their favour.

Guardiola said:"I'll be on the bus or plane. Tiger Woods and Francesco Molinari are playing. We will watch the Masters and maybe the Liverpool game. Hopefully, Chelsea do a good job."

On City's win, Guardiola said: "This pressure is incredible. We are fighting to be champions back to back.

"In two seasons we've got 83 points with five games left. We've won two titles (Community Shield) and now it's the FA Cup final."
