Pep Guardiola answers Harry Maguire transfer question amid Man City and Manchester United links

Harry Maguire has been one of the hottest transfer topics all summer and the saga surrounding his future has involved both Manchester City and Manchester United .

The England international has starred for Leicester City since making the switch from Hull City in 2017 and is now perceived as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

Maguire was a key part of the England squad which made the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and ever since last summer the likes of City and United have been heavily linked with his services.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are continuing talks with Leicester over a potential transfer following a rejected £70m bid but the club are still short of the Foxes' £90m asking price.

The Blues, meanwhile, are still interested in Maguire but are less willing to pay over the odds for the 26-year-old.

City's first pre-season game of the summer was always going to lead to plenty of Maguire talk post-match and after the 4-1 win over West Ham manager Pep Guardiola was asked about the centre-back.

But Guardiola was not giving anything away as he provided this sharp response.

Asked about Maguire, Guardiola simply stated: "Leicester player."

Vincent Kompany's retirement led to speculation that City would like to sign Maguire as his replacement, though it has been argued that the Blues already have enough depth to cope.

Old Trafford looks the more likely destination for Maguire, with SkyBet currently having the club at 1/6 favourites, while City are way back at 4/1.
