Pep Guardiola and Man City given huge boost ahead of Spurs Champions League quarter-final clash

Man City have been given a major boost ahead of Tuesday's Champions League tie against Spurs with Sergio Aguero nearing a return to fitness.

The Argentine started in last Saturday's 2-0 win over Fulham but he was substituted in the second half as a precaution.

Aguero subsequently missed City's victory over Cardiff City on Wednesday evening after not training with his teammates ahead of the game.

However, it appears that he will now be back for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final clash against Brighton & Hove Albion, although it is not clear at present if he will go straight back into Pep Guardiola's starting XI.

Quizzed at his pre-match press conference about a potential return for the striker at Wembley, the manager, as reported by Manchester Evening News, said: "Almost fit yes, he will travel."

While it is good news for the league leaders with Aguero returning ahead of some crucial games for the team, City will have to do without Oleksandr Zinchenko after he came off early on against Cardiff.

Confirming that the versatile player is likely to return in 10 to 12 days, Guardiola now has a decision to make over who plays at left-back with Fabian Delph injured and Bernard Mendy just returning to fitness.

The Frenchman last featured against Burton Albion back in January but it looks as if he could be set to be back in the team very soon.

"Everybody has to help as much as Mendy he can’t do it alone to arrive at April to win something more, it’s incredible news for us that he has been training for a week," added Guardiola.
