'It is ridiculous' - Pep Guardiola agrees with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over calls for new Premier League rule

Pep Guardiola has called for the Premier League to increase the number of substitutions allowed to five for each side.

Guardiola ’s demand for a change in the substitute rule echoes a similar demand that Jurgen Klopp made last season.

The rule was temporarily changed by the Premier League to allow managers to make five changes during Project Restart.

However, a majority decision was made to revert back to three substitutes last season, despite the other top European leagues keeping the new rule in place.

The Manchester City boss called the current law “ridiculous” after his side’s Carabao Cup win over Wycombe on Tuesday, with his team battling a growing injury list.

FSG make £220m long-term statement as next stage of Liverpool plan begins

FSG may have been criticised for their lack of transfer spending this summer, but their £60m commitment to the Anfield Road stand shows they are still willing to invest in Liverpool 's long-term prospects.

The transfer policy utilised this summer focussed on securing the futures of the Reds’ key players such as Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, with the owners’ stadium plans following a similar vein.

An expanded Anfield Road stand will provide 7,000 additional seats, bringing Anfield 's total capacity to 61,000 for the start of the 2023/24 season.

The £60m being forked out for the project takes FSG’s total spending on construction costs to £220m, when combined with £110m spent on the Main Stand and the £50m AXA Training Centre, unveiled last year.
