Pep Guardiola admits Real Madrid are now at the front of his Man City thoughts

Pep Guardiola says everything Manchester City do is now focussed towards beating Real Madrid next month.

The Blues booked an FA Cup semi-final date with Arsenal, and still hope to make more history by winning both domestic cups back-to-back.

But after a routine 2-0 win at Newcastle in the quarter-final, Guardiola admitted that the Champions League is looming large in their thoughts.

That does not mean they will toss away the league, where they still need eight points to take a top four place, or the FA Cup.

But Guardiola said:"We spoke after what happened in the Premier League, we need two more victories to qualify for the Champions League mathematically.

"And after lockdown we spoke - okay we have two competitions we are still in and we make the first step. "Now, (we have) a semi final, and we'll be good, it will be good to arrive at Madrid in the best physical conditions to play these kind of games.

"A semi-final against Arsenal  if we are lucky and play a good game to achieve the final will be the best preparation to win the trophy and to prepare against Madrid."
