People’s Party wins most seats on Bangkok council

The opposition-core People’s Party (PP) won 22 of the 50 district seats on the Bangkok city council at Sunday's election.

According to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, PP council candidates won the districts of Thawi Watthana, Bang Khae, Taling Chan, Rat Burana, Dusit, Phranakhon, Bang Sue, Phaya Thai, Ratchathewi, Laksi, Chatuchak, Din Daeng, Sathon, Don Mueang, Lat Phrao, Huai Khwang, Yannawa, Watthana, Phra Khanong, Bang Na, Klong Sam Wa and Nong Chok.

The Bangkok Squad team captured 11 seats - Phasicharoen, Bang Bon, Bang Khunthian, Thon Buri, Bang Rak, Bang Kholaem, Bung Kum, Bang Kapi, Kannayao, Saphan Sung and Suang Luang districts.

Democrat Party candidates won eight seats - Bangkok Noi, Bangkok Yai, Klong San, Pomprap Sattruphai, Samphanthawong, Wang Thonglang, Klong Toey and Prawet districts.

The Pheu Thai Life group won four council seats - Chom Thong, Thung Khru, Sai Mai and Min Buri districts.

Independent candidates won in Nong Khaem, Bang Phlat and Bang Khen districts and the Better Bangkok group won Pathumwan and Lat Krabang.
