People were stabbed at 'out of control' house party which 'more than 100 people' turned up to

Several people suffered stab injuries after violence flared at a house party, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the scene on Church Road in Flixton in the early hours of Sunday to reports of a 'disturbance'.

Officers found six people with injuries.

Last night police said none of the injuries were life-threatening, although one person remains in hospital.

A spokesperson for GMP confirmed some of the victims suffered stab injuries.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has been released on bail.

A neighbour told the Manchester Evening News he believes as many as 100 young people attended the party.

He said he wanted to complain about the level of noise but felt 'intimidated'.

Police and ambulances arrived at the scene at around 1.15am.

"It was chaos, out of control", the neighbour said.

"There must have been 100 people there, they were spilling onto the street.

"The music was pumping, but it was dimly lit so you could just see heads bopping about."

The man said he saw broken glass and nitrous oxide cannisters strewn across the street.

"Even before it kicked off, you knew something was brewing as you could hear shouting," the neighbour added.

"But it was when two ambulances arrived with their blues and twos on you knew something serious had happened.

"There was loads of police, at least five or six cars.

"I've got kids and it's pretty worrying that this is happening literally on your doorstep."

Another resident said she received a note to say there was a party planned and that she could hear 'loud music' before the sirens of the ambulance and police cars.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 185 of June 30, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
