People warned to stay indoors due to 'dangerous scaffolding' caused by stormy weather

Some residents in south Bristol have been advised to stay indoors due to "dangerous scaffolding" caused by severe gales, as a key route is closed.

York Road, in Bedminster, has been closed by emergency services today (February 9).

Bristol has been battered by the arrival of Storm Ciara, with a Met Office amber warning now covering the south west until later this evening.

The windy weather has already caused several incidents across Bristol, including the one in York Road.

Firefighters from Temple fire station were called to the road this morning to attend reports of "dangerous scaffolding" caused by the strong gusts.

Residents in Cutters Row and St Luke's Court were advised to stay indoors while fire crews made sure the scene was safe.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said on Twitter: "@AFRSTemple are in attendance at dangerous scaffolding due to the high winds.

"Please advice residents in Cutters Row and St Luke’s Court and all properties between 1-138 York Road Bedminster to stay inside of property.

"Crews are making everything safe."
