People are being warned against unveiling personal information to gangsters pretending to be court officials who are really operating a phone scam to cheat them of their money.
Their unsuspecting victims answer the phone call and are suddenly told they are the subject of a "court summons".
Alarmed and unaware they are being tricked, some surrender their private information, including national identity card numbers and financial details, Courts of Justice spokesman Suriyan Hongwilai said on Wednesday.
The gangsters usually claim they need the information to check details on the court summons.
In the worst case, the victims are lured into making an online money transfer via computer or ATM, and end up giving money to the callers, Mr Suriyan said.
Court officials, especially those in Songkhla Provincial Court, have received a number complaints about the deceit, he said.
"Don't believe it," Mr Suriyan warned. "The court has never had a policy to ask for personal information [on phone]."
