A Scots councillor is urging residents in Ayr to stop setting off fireworks as the community continues to recover from a devastating house explosion.
Chris Cullen, an SNP representative for Ayr East, has called out the “highly insensitive” actions after the pyrotechnics were let off near Kincaidston on Sunday night.
Posting on social media, he said: “I’m receiving reports of people letting fireworks off in the vicinity of Kincaidston.
“Given the recent incident, this is highly insensitive and I would politely ask you to refrain from setting off fireworks and causing more upset.”

The community is still reeling from a major explosion which saw dozens of homes damaged or destroyed in the Gorse Park area of the town last Monday.
A family-of-four, named locally as William and Marion Ferguson, along with their 16 and 11-year-old sons, were rushed to hospital after being pulled from the rubble of their home.
A number of properties in the area remain cordoned off as a result of damage caused by the force of the blast which was heard up to eight miles away.
A multi-agency investigation remains ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion.

Responding to Councillor Cullen’s statement, several residents echoed his remarks and called for people to show some compassion.
Natalie Munro wrote: “It’s disgusting. The least wee noise and we’re all on the edge. Shame on these people. No respect.”
David Watson posted: “Honestly?! What is wrong with some people? Completely thoughtless and a distinct lack of compassion and consideration for others.”
Chloe Hough added: “I’ve just been walked to the community centre by two police officers and I heard two fireworks. I completely cr**** myself.
“The officers were really understanding and comforting but some people have no respect.”
And Amanda White said: “Absolutely disgusting. We’re all jumping at the least wee thing, never mind fireworks, not even a week later.”
We earlier told how Ayr’s main firework display has been cancelled this year following the devastating events in Kincaidston.
Organisers had been set to welcome thousands through the gates at Ayr Rugby Club for the annual event on Friday, November 5.
But after discussions, it was decided that the display would be cancelled in support of those affected by the blast.
