People think this lightning storm cloud formation in Wales looks like Jimi Hendrix

Some people are saying a cloud spotted in Welsh skies bears an uncanny resemblance to a 1970s rock legend.

Plenty of incredible images have been shared of the electrical storms across Wales this week, but this is the only one with a famous face apparently looking down from the cloud, illuminated by lightning.

Professional session drummer, Chris Baglole, 37, filmed the lightning storm from the garden of his home in Burry Port at 9.30pm on Wednesday, August 12.

It wasn't until later that he noticed what he thought looked like the profile of one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time, Jimi Hendrix, in the rolling storm clouds.

"I spotted the resemblance after watching the video back," he said.

"I'm not a fan of Jimi Hendrix, as a drummer I find the persistent solos and lack of depth that comes with 'power trios', blues and psychedelic rock quite monotonous and boring, both to listen to and play!"

Despite Chris's reservations about the musical style of Jimi Hendrix, who died of a suspected overdose in 1970, he thought the reference to the lyrics of one of Hendrix's best-known songs, Purple Haze, were too good an opportunity to miss.

The 1967 song from the Jimi Hendrix Experience was a chart hit around the world and has the opening lyrics: 'Purple haze, all in my brain.
'Lately things they don't seem the same.
'Actin' funny, but I don't know why.
'Excuse me while I kiss the sky.'

"I did find the 'kiss the sky' reference quite amusing and apt," added Chris.

A number of people have liked Chris's social media posts about the face in the sky, noting the resemblance to the guitar legend.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience played two shows in Cardiff and there is an urban myth that Hendrix spent a night sleeping on an island in Roath Park lake.

It's up to you to decide whether you think the rock legend really did make one final appearance in Wales this week.
