People think Neath's 'half dead' Christmas tree is a bit rubbish, but others disagree

Neath's festive Christmas tree has been labelled an "absolute joke" by critics.

Thousands are expected to line the streets in the town centre this evening to watch the lights being switched on.

The annual Christmas Festival will return with a two-day festive extravaganza which will feature entertainment, food stalls and a German bierkeller.

But as Santa gets set to arrive in town to officially start the festive season, many have weighed in to criticise this year's Christmas tree which sits in Angel Square.

A picture of this year's festive centrepiece was posted on social media by Laura Davies, and led to a fierce debate.

Ms Davies wrote: "What an absolute joke. They get worse every year."

Many agreed, with one person writing how they felt it looked "half dead".

Others compared it to Port Talbot's tree, claiming that town's festive centrepiece was far superior.

On the other side of the argument, many said there should be gratitude for having a tree at all, whilst another added that it had not been fully decorated yet.

Another wrote: "Why doesn't everyone moaning contribute to decorating the town every year? Last year they done great and still had people moaning, nothing will ever please everyone."

Looking on the bright side, however, someone else added: "At least no-one will steal it."

Neath Town Council has been contacted for comment.
