People think Boris Johnson was trolled by a librarian - but she had a different motive

As Boris Johnson made a speech about the importance of returning to school this week, it appeared he had fallen victim to some grade A trolling by the school librarian.

The Prime Minister spoke in front of pupils and the cameras at Castle Rock School in Leicestershire, where he blamed a 'mutant algorithm' for the exam result chaos.

But as he spoke in the school library, viewers were quick to spot the strategic placing of books on the top row of the shelves behind him.

Twitter users noted the titles included The Subtle Knife, Betrayed, The Resistance, Crisis Point, Glass Houses, and The Twits.

A tweet by @NicholasPegg went viral for pointing out the arrangement, which was labelled a move of 'supreme trolling' - but it turns out the books were never intended as a message for the PM.

The display had actually been left by an outgoing librarian as a dig at the school's senior leadership team six months ago and - with the library out of action - had remained untouched until Mr Johnson's appearance.

HuffPost tracked down the former school employee, who said she "feels a little bit sorry" for the Prime Minister as it was never intended as a message for him.

The librarian, who remained anonymous, said she left in February as the position had become "untenable" and decided to leave a "big message" during her last week in the job.

She said: "It was a covert message that was plain for all to see, but it turned out that the people I originally did it for didn't see it – but I think they've seen it now.

"The reality is actually a bit of a sadder story. If someone had done it for Boris Johnson that would have been amazing but it’s just a weird twist of fate.

“It was a message for senior management, so I suppose it’s nice that they've not finally got it, and if it helps any of the other staff that are still stuck there then all the better."
