'People telling me to retire should mind their own business' says Notts County striker Nathan Tyson

Notts County striker Nathan Tyson has no plans to retire and says people telling him to quit the game "should mind their own business".

The striker turned 37 in May but shows no signs of slowing down having scored an excellent goal in the 5-1 thrashing of Chorley on Bank Holiday Monday.

Having enjoyed a wonderful career, which has spanned 20 years, Tyson is hungrier than ever to add another promotion to his CV having helped Wycombe into League One last term.

The former Nottingham Forest forward revealed how some   people have told him  to hang up his boots, but he says they are wasting their time.

“I’m playing right up until the age of 40, then I’ll reassess what I want to do from there,” said Tyson, who joined Notts on a permanent deal earlier this month.

“I’m not letting anyone tell me any different.

“The number of times I’ve heard people tell me I should retire, do this or that - they should mind their own business!

“It’s down to nutrition and how you look after your body.

"I know I can’t do things I was doing 15 years ago – but I know if I look after myself right, I can produce on the pitch for myself and the team.”
