The police force posted on Facebook to warn people the dispersal zone would be in place until 7am on Tuesday, December 6.
They said: "We take these reports seriously and in order to investigate these reports effectively and keep you safe, a search authority under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 has been put in place from 6pm today until 7am tomorrow. This allows officers to stop and search any person inside the designated area shown on the map.
"You will see an increased number of officers in the area. Please don’t be concerned. They are there for your reassurance and ensure the reports are thoroughly investigated.
"We would ask anybody with information to call us on 101, quoting log 1044 of December 5, 2022."
