People shocked as mobile home in Brittas Bay goes on sale for 'insane price'

The property crisis in Ireland is at an all-time high, as people struggle to save for a mortgage while paying extortionate rent fees.

However, the unusually high price of one property has grabbed people’s attention.

The mobile home located in Brittas Bay, Co. Wicklow, has gone on sale for a staggering €495,000, reminding people of the prices seen during the Celtic Tiger.

No. 9 Beachfront, Jack's Hole Beach Resort is a three-bedroom mobile home right on a stunning beachfront.

Describes as “the most exclusive holiday home resort in Brittas Bay", the property has its own private beach and a host of onsite facilities and activities such as a sailing club, arts and crafts, tennis courts and playground.

There is a thriving social scene for adults with beach yoga, cookery lessons, golf and bridge classes, to name but a few.

The sale of the home has sparked discussion online as people were shocked by the mobile home being sold for almost half a million euro.

One Twitter user said: “Mobile home €495k in Brittas Bay anyone? Anyone?? (Last time this happened the economy…)."

Another user replied: “We’ll if someone has that kind of money to spend on a static caravan then good luck to them.

“Be interesting to see if any have actually sold. Property in this country is insane but there’s no chance of a crash anytime soon.”

People also pointed out that the 495k cost of the mobile home does not include a €15,000 yearly maintenance fee.

They said: “You can buy a large 4 bedroom house next to me in Arklow for about €150,000 less than that and save yourself the €15,000 a tear maintenance fee and just drive 10 minutes out the road to this place if you wanna use the beach etc that much even though there are much nicer there.”

Other's disagreed, saying that there was no similarity to the Celtic Tiger prices: “This is not the same as 07, then Irish market was outlier, house price inflation now is the same in the UK/USA and elsewhere, product of everyone not spending for 1.5years due to covid.. plateau is more likely..”
