People share their Christmas cooking mishaps as one man loses turkey to a magpie

Today is a big day for many family chefs as the famous meal of the year ends up on tables nationwide in a matter of hours.

After weeks of planning, shopping and trawling through recipes for turkey, ham, and more many will be nervous as they try to perfect their skills today.

For a lucky few the day will run as smoothly as they’d hoped with the perfect star of the show, a succulent fresh whole turkey.

According to Twitter this morning, there are quite a few people who haven’t been as fortunate in their cooking endeavours.

From burnt turkeys to others ravaged by animals in the night, people across the globe are sharing their rather funny mistakes online, and people are loving it.

A woman shared an image of her ‘disaster’ of a Turkey and wrote: “Turkey update.

“It's a disaster. I was so afraid to undercook it, it's as dry as a….Thank you all for trying.

“I will enjoy my curry though!”

One man even opted to leave his turkey outside because he couldn’t store it in the house, and animals got their teeth into it before morning.

“Magpie has had first dibs.” (@multimodalman)

The unfortunate man wrote: “Christmas is ruined. Turkey left outside because it was too big for the fridge.

“Magpie has had first dibs.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Cooking my very first turkey is a disaster already. I just don’t wanna be a responsible mum lol.

“Take me back to having Christmas with my parents pls.”

A third person chimed in and said: “Another hour and our turkey would've resembled the one from Christmas Vacation.

“BUT disaster averted.”
