'People say my kids will be embarrassed of my unique face tattoo - but I'm a cool mum'

It would be a boring old world if we all looked the same, but unfortunately, there are plenty of people out there who feel obligated to pass judgement on the appearance of others.

This is especially true when it comes to mum shaming, with some people having narrow-minded and outdated ideas about what a mother "should" look like, regardless of what her own personal style may be.

One mum has come forward to challenge such judgemental attitudes, responding to those who ask her to consider what her kids will one day think about her creative ink.

Mum and artist Alexandra Jenssen, who has a line tattoo running from her lower lip right down her neck, recently shared a video with her TikTok followers, expressing her thoughts on the matter.

In a video that showed her cuddling her baby contentedly, Alexandra, who goes by the username @alexandrajenssen, wrote: "When they say mums shouldn't have tattoos! What will your kids think?"

Offering up her response with a firm one-fingered salute, Alexandra replied: "That they have cooler parents than you do!"

Many followers applauded her stance, with one mum agreeing: "The only thing mums shouldn't do is not love their children, nothing else matters."

Another said: "Kids don’t care about tattoos. As long as their basic needs are met like warmth, love, food, water, milk, etc. they are happy".

Others suggested there were various benefits to having a tattooed parent, which they say could teach kids the valuable lesson that "everyone is different".

Alexandra says she's cooler, not because of her tattoos, but because she doesn't judge people on how they look (alexandrajenssen/TikTok)

In a follow-up vid, Alexandra responded to a person who took her video the wrong way, believing she meant that having tattoos would instantly make a parent cool.

Alexandra clarified: "The point is that my kids will probably think that I'm cooler than the person throwing that comment because I don't judge people based on how they look.

"I don't throw s***** comments like that to someone I don't know just because they have a line on their face".
