People returning to Wales from three more Greek islands now have to quarantine

More Greek islands have been added to the list of countries on the Wales quarantine list.

The Welsh Government announced that anyone returned from the islands of Santorini, Serifos and Tinos must self isolate for 14 days when they get back.

The rule is in place from 4am on Wednesday, September 9.

Vaughan Gething, Minister for Health and Social Services said: "Yesterday I reviewed the latest JBC assessments and I have decided that the Greek islands of Santorini, Serifos and Tinos will be removed from the list of exempt countries and territories.

It means that nine Greek islands are on the list after it was announced last week that Mykonos, Zakynthos, Lesvos, Paros, Antiparos and Crete were being added.

When that announcement was made in Wales, England did not include them but on Tuesday Grant Schapps announced some changes.

He said that travellers arriving in England from seven Greek islands will have to self-isolate for 14 days from 4am on Wednesday.

The islands on the England list are Crete, Lesvos, Mykonos, Santorini, Serifos, Tinos, and Zakynthos (also known as Zante).

The government says islands can be treated differently from their mainland countries if infection rates differ.
