Struggle is a part of an actor’s journey, but dealing with rejection is not easy. Coral Bhamra, who is currently part of Parineetii, opens up on how she has had to face rejection due to her height. She says, “Yes, actors have to go through their share of struggles, but I have lost out on roles for not being tall enough. That would really hurt me. Sometimes I wasn’t even given a chance to audition! They would say, ‘Yaar ye toh chhoti dikh rahi hai, lambi height wali ladki chahiye’. l understand sometimes it could be the requirement of the script, but not in all cases.”
Coral, who has acted in shows such as Kundali Bhagya, Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 and Teri Meri Ikk Jindri, adds, “These things used to affect me a lot initially and would make me really sad. But with my parents’ support, I managed to deal with it. Now I believe rejections are just a milestone of reaching the top.”
In recent years, the industry, too, has evolved, she says. “I feel that the thought process is changing. It’s high time that people stop judging a person on the basis of various parameters of beauty. Such things can affect some people who may be disillusioned and walk away, leaving behind their dreams,” she says.
