People queuing outside Liverpool pub to get a takeaway drink during lockdown

A Liverpool pub has offered a solution to those craving a pint while the lockdown continues.

Shenanigans on Tithebarn Street has been pulling pints and handing them out in takeaway containers so customers can get their booze fix.

Like many businesses across the country, pubs remain closed while the government imposed lockdown continues in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

No official date has been announced as to when pubs and bars will reopen, with the government suggesting the hospitality industry could be one of the last to reopen as maintaining social distancing guidelines is much harder in a social environment.

But customers lined up outside Shenanigans today, talking with one another as they queued up to get a takeaway drink.

The pub is offering beer, cider, wine, soft drinks and snacks for customers to take home with them.

On Shenanigan's Facebook page, the pub revealed it was offering takeaway pints of Guinness in glass milk bottles.

Boris Johnson laid out his "road-map" for getting out of lockdown on Sunday, May 10, seven weeks since the  coronavirus lockdown  began.

The Prime Minister  said on Sunday night people in England can now exercise more than once a day,  sit in parks  and go for drives from Wednesday.

But the majority of rules that were imposed on March 23 remain unchanged.

The fine for breaching the rules has been almost doubled to £100, up to a cap of £3,200.

And those who can't work from home are being urged to return to work, with the overall message switching from "stay at home" to "stay alert".
