People puzzled by 'unfair' warning note outside bouncy castle with strange rule for kids

When you're a young child, there are few things more exciting than a bouncy castle - especially if your parents have splashed out on hiring one for your birthday and you're now the coolest kid on the playground.

But one owner of a bouncy castle for hire has put a dampener on kids' fun by putting up a stark warning that tells children not to do the one thing bouncy castles were made for.

The sign, pinned to a fence outside the Disney -themed inflatable, specifically told children there would be "no jumping" and urged parents to tell their kids "not to jump" - leaving people baffled as to what else kids were supposed to do.

A picture of the multi-coloured bouncy castle was shared on the Twitter account @NoContextBrits, and the sign featured in the image read: "Strictly no jumping. Parents, please tell your children not to jump."

The tweet quickly went viral, with baffled Brits taking to the comments to ask just what else you're supposed to do if you can't jump on a bouncy castle.

One person asked: "So what are you supposed to do instead then? If you're not allowed to bounce, on a bouncy castle."

While another said: "Seems a bit unfair, no?"

Someone else offered a witty response as they typed: "Now introducing the walky castle. You don't bounce you just walk around on it."

And a fourth stated: "That's an impossible request."

Others jokingly called the inflatable a "standy castle" and a "looky castle", while another tried to come up with a reasonable explanation for the sign, which left them comparing a bouncy castle with a bouncy ball.

They wrote: "In all fairness, the name of it is 'bouncy castle'. At no moment it's specified what should bounce on it. Think about bouncy balls. Do you actually jump on it? No. So maybe the castle's sole purpose is to be there until someone big enough throws it on the floor to make it fly."
