People on Universal Credit can now get broadband for £15 a month

People claiming Universal Credit can now get broadband at home for just £15 a month.

The new tariff for 15Mbps broadband has been launched by Virgin Media and is similar to BT's basic phone and broadband package which is and capped at £20.70 a month.

However, the BT deal is only available to those who are completely out of work, reports The Mirror.

Jeff Dodds, chief operating officer at Virgin Media, said: "The launch of our Essential broadband service is about supporting customers who are experiencing financial difficulty and uncertainty.

"We all know how important connectivity is right now to our day to day lives, so this reliable, hassle-free service will help people to get online and carry out essential activities."

Existing customers can apply for the plan online. You'll be asked to provide proof of your Universal Credit status by supplying a digital picture of your online DWP account.
