People on the move: key North East appointments and promotions

Brand and graphic design consultancy Jump has announced two key appointments as it develops a new arm of the business.

Newcastle based Jump has appointed Kasey Murphy as marketing manager and Alana Whenary as marketing assistant as it expands into digital marketing services.

Ms Murphy who joins with over five years of experience in digital marketing, will lead the marketing arm of the agency, advising clients on digital marketing strategy. Following a successful digital marketing apprenticeship, Ms Whenary has been offered a full-time role as a marketing assistant.

Rob Brown, founder and managing director, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Kasey and Alana to the team. Kasey, supported by Alana, joins at a pivotal moment in JUMP’s growth journey. Whilst our core business is focused on brand and design, many clients are keen for us to manage and advise on their digital marketing strategy too, which is why we’ve decided to offer digital marketing support as a standalone service.”

Newcastle-based Parklane Plowden Chambers has appointed a new finance director to support its growth strategy.

Martin Beanland has been promoted from management accountant to take up the new role, after initially joining the set in 2015. Since joining Parklane Plowden he has been part of several projects that have transformed chambers’ financial and case management processes. He is responsible for the running of all finance matters and supports the decision-making process for the executive and service boards, as well as the senior management team.

Mr Beanland said: “Parklane Plowden is a progressive chambers in every sense, and that includes the way we have transformed how we manage cases and our finances for the benefit of our clients and members. In my new role, it is my responsibility to ensure we continually improve our finance function to ensure chambers has the capability and flexibility to enable the ongoing successful delivery of our growth plan.”

Newcastle corporate and commercial law firm Mincoffs Solicitors has announced a series of appointments and promotions.

It has bolstered its corporate team with two new fee earners, with solicitor Grace Hughes qualifying into the department after completing her training contract with the firm and Jenny Harrison joining as a paralegal. The residential conveyancing department at the firm has also welcomed solicitor Claire Devapal as the latest appointment to its 30-strong team.

Elsewhere in the business, trainee solicitor Amy Campbell has commenced her first seat in Mincoffs’ employment and commercial services departments, with two more trainee solicitors set to start their training contracts in March 2023.

Senior partner Paul Hughes said: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Mincoffs as we have some really fantastic projects under way which will benefit both our clients and our staff. It is excellent to be attracting talented legal professionals across all levels and we pride ourselves on being a firm which provides even those at the very start of their careers with real, hands on experience and responsibilities.”

Durham-based Hodgson Sayers is investing in the next generation of skilled trades people having appointed new apprentices Charlie Wilson and Michael Joyce.

Having joined on the same day, the pair, both aged 16, will each complete a two-year apprenticeship with the company. Charlie joins as an apprentice joiner and Michael as an apprentice flat roofer. They will continue their education one day per week at college and learn the practical side of their trade on site under their respective supervisors.

John Sayers, managing director at Hodgson Sayers, said: “Our team is vital to the continued success of the business and we endeavour to employ those that have the right mindset and drive, which is why we offered both Michael and Charlie an apprenticeship. They are hard-working, conscientious and, most importantly, enthusiastic about the trade they are learning.

“It’s great to see that Charlie and Michael have become friends outside of work and it is testament to the culture and environment we create for our team here at Hodgson Sayers.”
