People love devious Netflix adverts telling people to stay home - but they're not real

With the government ordering Brits to stay inside in the fight against coronavirus, it may never be more socially acceptable to go on a serious Netflix binge.

If you're deep into Stranger Things or Narcos, you may from time-to-time stare out of the window and consider taking a restricted second walk of the day to get some fresh air.

But images of a set of devious billboards have been shared online, encouraging people to stay at home by revealing Netflix spoilers in places including town centres and train station platforms.

We'll take this opportunity to tell you that the spoilers are included in the photos below, so you may want to look away now if you don't want to know who says I do and who is left alone at the altar on Love Is Blind.

It's a genius way to keep people indoors, but it turns out they aren't actually genuine Netflix billboards, and are instead mock-ups for a student project many want to see become reality. Spoilers below , this is the last time we're going to say it.

Netflix have clarified they aren't genuine posters (Twitter)
People want the company to hire the person behind the mock-ups (Twitter)

The photoshopped adverts include one which reads "Jim Hopper dies. Then he doesn't" placed at the bottom of a stairwell, referring to Stranger Things. Another containing Love Is Blind spoilers says: "Only two couples say 'I do'. And no, Kenny and Kelly aren't one of them."

Each also includes the slogan 'You should've #Stayedthef***home', which was kinda the giveaway that this isn't a real Netflix campaign.

After the images were widely shared on social media, Netflix came out in response to say: "Love the Stay At Home message but #NoSpoilersFromNetflix.

"These ideas are part of a student project — a creative idea, if we say so ourselves — but they're not real and not from Netflix."

It led to others asking them to employ the person behind it, hailing the creativity that went into the project.

One told the streaming service: "I’m sad because I loved this. Hire whoever made them!"

Another replied to say: "But we wouldn't mind if it was real!"
