People line the streets for funeral of the man convicted of Clydach murders Dai Morris

People lined the streets to say farewell to the man convicted of the Clydach murders.

Scores of people lined the street in Swansea from where the hearse containing Dai Morris' coffin left, with hundreds more waiting at Llanelli crematorium where he was laid to rest.

Morris died at HMP Long Lartin in Worcestershire last month, having spent the past 22 years behind bars. His cause of death has yet to be determined.

David Morris was convicted twice for the killings of Mandy Power, her two young daughters – Katie, aged 10, and Emily, aged eight – and her 80-year-old mother Doris Dawson at the family home in Kelvin Road, Clydach, in 1999.

He was convicted on two occasions – at Swansea Crown Court in 2002, a verdict which was overturned on appeal, and then following a retrial at Newport Crown Court in 2006.

But his family have always maintained his innocence and have vowed to continue their fight to clear his name.

During the service at the crematorium, music played included Bring Him Home by Alfie Boe, Sailing by Rod Stewart and Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Suede.

Geraint Evans, spokesman for the Free Dai Morris campaign said: "It has been a difficult day for the family laying David to rest, but the huge number of people who turned out to pay their respects is a testament to the strength of support for the campaign.

"We will continue to fight to clear his near name because he is an innocent man".

Morris funeral procession was met with a spontaneous round of applause from onlookers as it left for Llanelli Crematorium.

Hundreds of people were at the venue to greet its arrival.

Ms Power's former husband Michael has said he agreed with the trial verdict.
