A number of people were knocked to the ground by the waves as they went for a Sunday stroll on a popular North Dublin pier.
Scary images taken in Howth today show the waves splashing over the East Pier with some people struggling to stay on their feet with the force.
Numerous families, couples, and tourists were seen walking along as the water crashed over the walls.
One woman was saved from falling in after grabbing onto the railings nearby.
A man and woman were also seen falling as they walked along the top part while a young couple held onto eachother as the waves hit them at waist level.
A sign in the car park warned walkers that there was a risk of waves but its alleged there were no other warnings in place.
The Howth Coast Guard was not needed this time, but the unit has had to respond to a number of similar incidents in the last few years.
They previously said: "The Irish Coast Guard advise the public nationally to keep clear of exposed coastal areas during storm conditions.
"Locally in North Dublin we experience particular difficulties with waves breaking three hours either side of high tide and people often with young children getting into difficulty.
"If you are trapped on a pier or on an island don't risk the return journey across breaking waves to the shore, find the safest place then call 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard."
