People in hysterics at how players are eliminated from Channel 4's The Love Trap

Channel 4 viewers have been left in hysterics over how contestants are eliminated from its new dating show, The Love Trap

Presented by comedian Joel Dommett, the eight-part series sees a mansion full of single ladies attempting to grab the attention of eligible bachelor David Birtwistle after he failed to find 'The One' on Netflix's Too Hot To Handle last year.

But there's a twist - only half of the women are single, while the other half are already in relationships and are just in it for the £20,000 prize money, leaving the 31-year-old Londoner to work out who is being genuine and who is lying.

But the way the contestants leave the show is what has got everyone talking.

At the end of each episode, Birtwistle is given the choice of three girls to eliminate.

After he makes his mind up, the unlucky girl is dropped through a trap door.

A clip from the show is circulating on Twitter, and fans are stunned by how absurd the eliminations are.

Bec Shaw shared a clip from the most recent episode, and said: "You must see the end of the ep of this new dating show where the guy picks which woman is already in a relationship."

Since being posted, the video has been viewed more than one million times and has racked up 41,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

One person said: "Truly could not have ever prepared myself."

Another wrote: "LOLLLLL. That was wild. They didn't have to do all of that. HAHA."

"This about to be my new addiction," commented a third.

While someone else put: "If, like me, you don't normally click on clips from reality/ dating shows, let me tell you that you absolutely should click on this one."

For those who are wondering, the woman in the clip is perfectly fine.
