People gobsmacked by mum-to-be's 'intimate' gender reveal with lash technician

The excitement of having a new baby starts long before they arrive, with nine months of preparation and build up for the big day.

Part of this build up for some parents is finding out the gender of your baby, with some throwing lavish parties with all their family and friends around to share if their child will be a boy or a girl.

One pregnant mum did things a bit differently by having a private gender reveal for herself done by her eyelash technician.

The video was posted on the technician's TikTok, showing the mum-to-be excitedly reacting to her new lashes, which included wispy coloured lashes matching the baby's gender.

Technician Cienna Jane Lashes shared the cute moment on her page in a video which now has over 19 million views and thousands of comments.

It starts with the mum showing the camera a piece of paper with the baby's gender on it, although she has her eyes closed so cannot see what it says.

The technician then begins to apply blue lashes to the edge of the mum-to-be's eyes, mixed in with her black false lashes - some commenters joked they thought "the whole lash was going to be blue".

Once finished, the customer is handed a mirror and prepares to open her eyes, admitting she is "so nervous". She gasps and puts her hand over her mouth to scream as she realises she's having a baby boy, thanks to the blue lashes.

Commenters loved the reveal, saying it was "so cute" and "such a fun idea", with another beautician adding: "Being in the beauty industry is so rewarding. I love sharing my clients big moments with them."

One person said: "It's great that your nails are blue too!" to which the original poster said: "I know right! What a coincidence lol."

"I couldn't do this I would start crying straight away," said another commenter. Lash extensions shouldn't get wet for 24 hours after application so crying could disturb the adhesive and ruin the look.

A third said: "I'm so happy for her and I don't even know her," while a fourth added: "This is so cute and I think a better way to do gender reveals! Feels so intimate and genuine."

Others flooded the comments with compliments on how pretty the lashes looked or congratulating the mum-to-be on her baby boy.

Getting a lash treatment such as lash extensions when pregnant is perfectly safe but lying on your back for extended periods of time is not advised. One commenter shared that they had to lie on their side when getting lash extensions while pregnant - this is done for the safety of the baby.
