People gobsmacked at woman's unusual paint roller trick that gives 'beautiful tan'

The art of an even tan is not always as simple as it sounds with burnt patches and odd lines from falling asleep in the sun marring a natural bronzed look.

For those unable to jet off to a sunny spot, fake tan is there to save the day but this can be a nightmare to apply - often with missed patches and orange hands, even with a mitt.

Anyone looking for the ultimate even tan, look no further as one woman discovered an odd hack with a household item that she says gives a 'beautiful tan' with minimal effort.

In her now viral TikTok, @chelseaxx26 shared the hack that she stumbled upon by accident when applying her fake tan. She wrote: "Lost my tan mit so a paint roller it is, not gonna lie it was honestly so good no patches at all!"

The video has over 2.3 million views and shows Chelsea with some spray tanner around her shin, she grabs her paint roller and begins to spread the tan. As an added bonus, the technique is clearly speedy as she quickly covers most of her leg without needing to reapply.

Chelsea's unusual tool has impressed viewers, racking up over 85k likes and thousands of comments all baffled at the unconventional solution to her missing mitt.

"This would be great for doing your back," said one user, while a second added: "Not me calling my dad at almost 9:30 at night just asking to borrow a paint roller."

"Watch every DIY store be sold out of foam rollers," joked someone else.

Another tan fan said: "I must try this myself," to which Chelsea replied: "Gives you a beautiful tan!"

Clearly Chelsea's spontaneous tool was a hit, with one woman sharing she has been "doing this for years", especially to help reach her back like many were suggesting. Another shared: "That’s what we use in bodybuilding competitions it’s streak free and easier to apply."

Others praised the hack for removing the mitt, which can often leave your hands orange as the tan lotion seeps through while applying elsewhere.

Although the hack didn't convince everyone as one commenter wrote: "Love it! Definitely trying this method. Just wondering how much product gets sucked into the roller and wasted."

Many joked that "big brands" would make money with this idea "with some fancy pink handle", while others said Chelsea herself should make her own and launch it.

One user pointed out that Skinny Tan already make a version of this, retailing for £7.79, but it's currently sold out online.
