People furious with certain comments about early-morning Penneys queues across Ireland

Some online comments about people queuing for Penneys early this morning have been slammed.

Punters arrived in their droves to Penneys stores nationwide from as early as 4:30am to stock up on what the budget retailer has to offer.

Videos and pictures on social media and on websites showed the huge demand for the reopening.

But some people questioned why others feel to need to queue overnight.

However, many social media users were quick slam those shaming people who needed essentials for kids, among other reasons.

Twitter user Jackie Lynam said: "Hate all the judgy comments. It's child benefit day. Penneys sell cheap clothes that can't be bought online.

"10 years ago I might well have been in that queue at 4.30am before my husband went to work at 6am so I wouldn't have to bring my toddlers with me. Stop judging people!"

Fiona Kenny added: "People are queueing outside Penneys early in the morning because they need to buy things.

"What time they queue to get into a shop is their own business. Poking fun at people buying clothes or Christmas presents for their kids and family, seems like an odd way to start the day."

While Amy O'Connor said: "Sincerely couldn’t care less about Penneys queues. Whether people are buying essential children’s clothes or just going in for a nose around, leave them off and park your sneering."

Such is the demand for Penneys that two of their stores will open for 24 hours this week.
