People from Bristol will be able to visit and travel to Wales from Monday

Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford will announce today an end to the country's stay local message, allowing Bristolians to travel into Wales again from Monday (July 6).

It means that the current five mile limit imposed upon people living in Wales will be lifted.

People from two separate households will be able to join together to form one exclusive extended household, however far apart they are, Wales Online reports.

In his press conference later today, the First Minister is expected to say that, while some restrictions are being eased in Wales, everyone needs to continue to maintain social distancing and respect the places and communities they visit.

It will come as great news to many in Wales especially those who haven't been able to see their family since the beginning of lockdown in March.

It comes as bars, pubs, cafés and restaurants can begin to re-open outdoors in Wales from July 13 but only if cases continue to fall.

The Welsh Government set out three key dates on Thursday. They are:

  • July 6 - Outdoor visitor attractions will be able to open to the public if the requirement to stay local is lifted
  • July 11 - Self-contained accommodation will be able to re-open, subject to the outcome of next week’s 21-day review
  • July 13 - bars, pubs, cafés and restaurants will be able to open outdoors, subject to the outcome of next week’s 21-day review

A decision on indoor visitor attractions will be taken at the next lockdown review on July 9.

Latest figures released on July 2 show eight more people have died after contracting coronavirus in Wales.

Public Health Wales confirmed the total number of deaths of people with lab-confirmed coronavirus since the outbreak began had now reached 1,524. The true total according to the figures the ONS publishes every week was 2,408 by June 19.

The number of lab-confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Wales has risen by 41 to bring the total to 15,815.
